One of the things that I love about photogaphing weddings is the details. I feel like a highlight on the small details are often times overlooked. You may see them as a part of a larger picture as a secondary theme, but I want to see them large and prominent in a photograph. There is often a substantial amount of thought that goes into the planning of everything from the wedding rings to the clips that hold down the tablecloths and I want to honor that. Here are a few of my favorite detail photographs from Veronica and Daniel’s wedding at the McLean House in West Linn.

Stephanie and I rescheduled their family portrait session in the Pearl 2 or 3 times due to bad weather. It was all worth it when we met outside of the Eco Trust Building. I fueled up on Hot Lips pizza ahead of time (one of my Portland favorites). Little did I know that every Thursday night the building hosts a farmer’s market in the parking lot. They had anything you could want, as long as it was local, fresh and organic. I had to pick up a loaf of sourdough from Grand Central Bakery…and I digress.
Stephanie’s family was so wonderful to work with. Despite the heat and plentiful distractions the kids seemed to have a good time getting their photos taken. For the most part, with children, the less you push them the better the photographs. What a great evening. Here are some of my favorites:

No detail was overlooked and the day could not have been more perfect. I met Brenda and Brendon at their apartment in Corvallis on the morning of the 4th of July. They had just returned from gathering flowers for Brenda’s bouquet at the local farmer’s market. With a stop off at the family farm outside of Sweet Home to put on the finishing touches we left for McDowell Creek Park where the couple were married on a bridge over a creek in front of a waterfall. We made sure to plan plenty of time for photos at the waterfalls. We met back up with the guests at Roaring River Park just down the road for their reception. The star of the day was a quick trip back to Timer Linn Park for the fireworks. The adrenaline kept me going on the drive back to Portland and it was a mad dash for the card reader.
